This workshop teaches European style marbling (also called "turkish marbling") using acrylic paints. It includes a discussion of selection and preparation of materials as well as the equipment required. Many traditional marbled patterns will be presented.
This course is intended for people who want to learn the basic materials and techniques involved in producing marbled paper, cloth, and three-dimensional objects.
This workshop lasts 6 hours, consisting mostly of supervised hands-on practice interspersed with a short presentation as each new technique or marbling pattern is introduced. The time is split into two 3-hour segments on the same day with a meal break between. Each student will have his or her own work area set up for marbling 8½×11" sheets. Marbled works that are not dry by the end of the workshop can be picked up later or shipped when dry.
Attendance is limited to 8 students, in order that all can receive adequate attention from the instructors.
Tuition for this class is $65.00 plus 13% HST for a total of $73.45 per person, including all materials. The cost of shipping finished work is not included.
